Wait for it

I started this blog knowing I had no chance of keeping up with it for at least a week. My best friend’s mom had just died far too young, and all I could do besides wait for him to fly home was wait. And in that wait, I saw that some things could not wait any longer. Here are a few things I’ve been learning about waiting the last several days.

1. Don’t wait on dreams.
Go ahead and start something. For me, I needed to stop stalling and start this blog. If you can be working towards a goal, do it. Sometimes it’s that simple.

2. Don’t wait to step out of your comfort zone.
In the past 24 hours or so, I have dyed my bangs (in support of my best friend’s musical this weekend, for which he dyed his hair jet black) and donated blood, both for the first time. Sometimes support comes in a variety of ways, but I think it’s always worthwhile to invest in new things—and better yet to invest in people.

Here I am after giving blood!

3. Music makes the wait easier.
Ok, this is a stretch. Honestly, I was looking for a way to tie in Boumbox’s main purpose. Lately I discovered the band Wild Child through Spotify’s app “We are Hunted.” The soft acoustic sounds and male and female vocalists balance out the sullen lyrics to create a really nice feel. The album’s title track, Pillow Talk, has become an instant favorite for me.
